Who was Edgar Allan Poe?

Today, we gonna talk about Edgar Allan Poe, the writer of all these stories.

Edgar Allan Poe was born in 1809 in Boston. He represent Romantiscism in United States. Poe was writer, critic and editor and became famous for his tales of mystery and horror.

He never knew his parents. His father left he and his wife. His mother passed away when he was just three. Poe went to live with John and Frances Allan, a successful tobacco merchant and his wife, in Richmond, Virginia. When he went to studied at University of Virginia in 1826, he didn't receive enough funds from Allan to cover all his costs. Frustrated, Poe left the Allans.

                                      

He join to the Military Academy in 1830. After leaving the academy, Poe focused his writing full time. He moved to Baltimore to live with his aunt and her daughter. Virginia, his cousin, was his literaly inspiration as well his lover. They married in 1836.


His first book was published in 1830. In 1845 he became a literaly sensation with the publication of the poem "The Raven." It was considered a great American literary work and one of the best of Poe's career.


He died in Octuber, 7, 1849 due a congestion of his brain. At this time he already was sick. But his actual cause of death has been the subject of endless speculation. Some experts believe that alcoholism led to his demise while others offer up alternative theories. Rabies, epilepsy, carbon monoxide poisoning are just some of the conditions thought to have led to the great writer's death.
